Let me guess—you’ve thought about doing a boudoir shoot. Maybe a friend did one and looked amazing. Maybe you saw a photo and thought, “I wish I could feel like that.” And then almost instantly, your brain hit the brakes:
“But I’m not confident enough.”
“I’m too old / too awkward / not sexy.”
“What if I hate the photos?”
Sound familiar? You’re not alone. These fears come up all the time—especially for women over 40 who’ve been taught that our beauty has an expiry date (it doesn’t). So let’s talk about the five biggest fears, and why they’re honestly… total lies.
1. “I need to lose weight first.”
The lie: I’ll only look good once I shrink myself.
The truth: Boudoir isn’t about changing yourself—it’s about seeing yourself differently.
Photographers (hi, me!) know how to pose, light, and guide you in a way that shows off your favorite parts and celebrates your whole body. No diet required. And your body? It’s allowed to take up space. It’s not a “before.” It’s beautiful right now.
2. “I’m not photogenic.”
The lie: Some people just look better in photos than others.
The truth: Being “photogenic” is not a personality trait—it’s a collaboration.
It’s my job to direct you, hype you up, and pose you in ways that feel natural. You don’t need to know how to move or smile or pose. You just need to show up—and trust that you’re not doing this alone.
3. “I’m too old for this.”
The lie: Boudoir is for 20-somethings with perfect skin and flat stomachs.
The truth: Boudoir is for you, me, all of us.
There is nothing sexier than a woman who’s lived. Confidence, softness, wisdom, curves, stories—those things come with time. I’ve photographed women in their 50s and 60s who’ve never felt more powerful than the moment they saw themselves through my lens.
4. “It’ll be awkward.”
The lie: You’re going to feel naked and weird and cringe the entire time.
The truth: Most clients say they forgot they were nervous 15 minutes in.
The space we shoot in is private, warm, and designed to make you feel comfortable. I’ll guide every pose, play music you love, and make sure you feel fully supported. There will be laughter. Maybe some dancing. And definitely some “wait, is that me?!” moments when you see the back of the camera.
5. “What if I hate the photos?”
The lie: I’ll be disappointed in how I look and regret doing this.
The truth: Most clients are blown away—because you’re seeing yourself without all the old filters.
You’re not going to see your flaws. You’re going to see your power, softness, boldness, and beauty. You’re going to see the version of you your loved ones already see. And honestly? That’s a moment everyone deserves.
Final Truth:
Your fears are valid. But they don’t get to be the final word.
And if you’re here, reading this, something in you already knows—it’s time.
You’re ready to celebrate your body, your story, your strength.
You’re ready to feel proud of yourself again! Let's do this!
